Shrike is a leading innovator in the design and manufacture of advanced electronic systems for military, defence, and avionics applications. We are seeking a talented and experienced Electronics Design Engineer to join our high-performance team. This role is ideal for someone with a background in the defence industry, strong expertise in electronics and control systems, and a passion for building world-class embedded systems.


Your Mission:

You will contribute to the development of cutting-edge embedded electronic systems, combining software, control theory, and hardware design. You'll work across the full engineering lifecycle, from concept to deployment, ensuring solutions meet rigorous client and regulatory requirements.


Key Responsibilities:

Design & Development:

  • Design embedded systems for control and sensor integration.

  • Develop and verify firmware (C/C++) and design supporting analog/digital hardware.

  • Lead PCB layout and hardware/software integration, including EMI/EMC mitigation.

  • Conduct prototype testing, issue resolution, and system optimisation.

  • Control system design and modelling

Project Leadership:

  • Define project scope, timelines, and budgets. Ensure timely delivery and cost control.

  • Interface with subcontractors and suppliers, ensuring technical quality and delivery standards.

  • Drive continuous improvement in technical processes and product performance.

Client Engagement:

  • Act as a technical point-of-contact for clients throughout the design lifecycle.

  • Translate customer requirements into innovative, deliverable technical solutions.

  • Document all major technical communications and decisions.


Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electronic or Mechatronic Engineering (First Class or Distinction preferred).

  • Experience in the defence industry with a strong understanding of sector-specific standards and constraints.

  • Proficiency in control systems and model-based design using Simulink.

  • Expertise in C and C++ firmware development.

  • Demonstrated experience in analog design, PCB layout (Altium preferred), and system integration.

  • Familiarity with EMI/EMC design principles and mitigation techniques.

  • Strong problem-solving and project management skills.

  • Ability to work independently and handle multiple projects simultaneously.

  • Willingness to work overtime when required to meet critical deadlines.
